WACO, Texas -- Augusta State combined for rounds of 317 and 315 Monday during the first two rounds of the Baylor Spring Invitational at wind-swept Twin Rivers Golf Club.
The Lady Jaguars will enter Tuesday's third and final round in 10th place in the 18-team field. At 632 (+56), ASU is 12 shots out of fifth place.
Sophomore Marit Bjerke managed rounds of 4-over 76 and 5-over 77 and leads the Lady Jags with a tie for 14th. Junior Kirsty Rands (83-78) and freshman Casey Kennedy (84-77) are tied for 51st at 161 (+17). Sophomore Natalie Wille (79-83) is tied for 56th and freshman Christine Duschek-Hansen (79-84) is 59th.
Texas Tech (309-295) overcame steady winds in excess of 30 mph to turn in the only sub-300 round of the day in the second round and opened up an 11-shot lead over Texas-San Antonio. Missouri State, No. 28 Oklahoma and North Texas are third, fourth and fifth.
Baylor's Chelsey Cothran carded a 1-over 147 (73-74) and is one stroke clear of Texas Tech's Alex Gibson (78-70) and Taylor Newlin of Texas-San Antonio (77-71). Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil (75-74) and Gabby de Reuck (71-78) of Texas State are tied for fourth, two shots behind Cothran.
ASU will be paired with Missouri and Arkansas-Little Rock in Tuesday's final round, which gets underway with a 9:30 a.m., (EST) shotgun start.
